“Home for the holidays” for many of us, is a magical time of year when we look forward to gathering together with our families and friends to celebrate the season in the warmth and comfort of our homes.
But, when you don’t have an affordable place to live, the holidays can be a heartbreaking time. The added pressure for holiday expenditures means that families must make hard choices between holiday celebrations and living expenses. No one should have to choose between a happy holiday with their family and making ends meet.
Hassan came to America 8 years ago from Uganda not knowing anyone but knowing that America could hold a bright opportunity for him and his family. He has worked tirelessly over these 8 years to become an established member of the community. During that time Hassan applied to Habitat Dutchess and in June 2021 became a Partner in the Homeownership Program. At this time, his children are looking forward to spending the holidays with their father and playing in the snow for the first time ever!
